New Volunteer Orientations for Youth
A
volunteer orientation is required
for ALL volunteers
participating in our projects. This can be done
online or at one of
our one-hour,
in-person sessions
held around the
Valley. You can also request
that our staff come to your class or
club meeting to do an orientation
for youth groups of 15 or more.
About Online Orientations & Youth:
If you choose to do the online
orientation, each individual member
of your family will need to go
through it. This means that if a
family of four decides to volunteer,
the orientation will be gone through
four times. NOTE: Due to privacy
laws, youth ages 13 and under cannot
have their own usernames and
passwords. Families with children
under 13 must attend one of our
in-person orientations.
Minimum Age
Based
on the rules of our partner
organizations or the type of
volunteer work, (i.e. will there be
sharp tools or heavy labor) we
determine a minimum age for each
project. This is listed in
each project description.
Families & Youth Under 16
We have projects that
can accommodate kids as young as 8,
but we ask that no child under the
age of 16 attend a project or
orientation without parent
supervision.
•
16 & 17-year-olds
Volunteers who are 16 or 17
and want to attend projects
without a parent must bring
a signed
Youth Volunteer Waiver Form with them to
every project they
attend.
Youth Groups
We are happy to have
youth clubs, classes and groups volunteer
with us. However, we expect each group to be
chaperoned by responsible adults. For youth
under 12, one adult must be present for
every five children; for youth 13 and over,
one adult must be present for every ten
children.
Summer Volunteer
Challenge
Offered in
partnership with CBS 5 and Fulton Homes, the
Power of 5 Summer Volunteer Challenge gives
youth ages 12 and up an opportunity to serve
in their communities and win great rewards!
Check our Project Calendar when school's out
for youth-only projects.
